From Josh Barrow:
Facial acupuncture is a non-invasive, chemical-free therapy rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It aims to rejuvenate the skin and bring new energy to parts of our face, that can feel undernourished, wrinkled, or scarred.
It’s a practice that dates back over 1,500 years ago but continues to be used today. Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Angelina Jolie have been said to use it.
So how does it work?
It uses the insertion of fine, sterile needles into points on the face to rejuvenate areas that need some TLC. Rooting points are always used to balance the energies and ensure a calming experience. By stimulating points on the face, we can:
- Enhance blood circulation, which allows fresh oxygen and nutrients to the skin and promotes a healthy complexion.
- Stimulating collagen production and elastin to reduce wrinkles.
- Alleviate muscle tension, or learn facial expressions, which can cause wrinkles. By relaxing our faces, we can unwind the continuous actions that cause wrinkles.
These are some of the ways that facial acupuncture can help, but it’s also generally a great stress-relieving treatment; it helps to decrease puffiness of the skin and has been used in scar reduction too.
It’s a treatment that can work nicely alongside the ‘normal’ acupuncture, which can help to treat underlying conditions.
