EFT could be described as a kind of emotional acupuncture (without needles) for releasing negative emotions that can cause people to feel stuck and unable to move forward in life.
The mind/body connection means that signals are passed throughout our central nervous system all the time. Our bodies respond to our thoughts which means you can often notice when a person is happy or unhappy by their behaviour, their posture and/or the expression on their face – their thoughts are unconsciously affecting the way their body is behaving. Our mind can also be affected by the way our body is feeling – if we feel physically unwell, our thoughts can become miserable.
If we experience strong negative emotions it can sometimes cause these signals to become blocked which means we can become stuck emotionally, repeating unwanted behaviour and unable to move forward with our lives.
EFT uses gentle tapping movements of the fingers on the acupuncture points to allow the signals to flow freely again and restore peace of mind.
Issues that can be helped include:
- Reducing stress, panic and anxiety
- Breaking habits, compulsions and OCD
- Overcoming phobias and fears
